About the Virtual Event

The Trump presidency has been defined by a profoundly anti-immigrant agenda, with cruel and radical policies like the separation of Central American families at the border and a racist rhetoric since day one — calling immigrants animals and rapists. Many believe Trump’s words even inspired a gunman to target Latinos at the El Paso shooting a year ago in what became one of the deadliest attacks against Hispanics in recent US history. Given that Latinos will be the largest voting bloc of people color in November with 32 million eligible voters, we’ll explore the state of Latino political power in the Southwest, the role Latinos, the border, and immigration are playing in the 2020 campaign, and whether this will be the year that Texas will finally turn blue.
